The number of rules in a family affects the health of children

T

Television, video game, computer: at most the use of its devices is regulated in a family, the more the child will have a healthy life later. This is what a new study has revealed.

The University of Indiana in the United States has just published the results of a large study on obesity. This study is based on data collected from 3,000 young people between the ages of 9 and 14 and centered around the time that parents gave children to watch TV, play video games or stay in front of their computer. What children could or could not eat was also scrutinized.

Less fast food

It turns out that children from families where the rules were clear and healthy were more likely to spontaneously make healthier choices later on. For example, a child who grew up in a family with clear rules around healthy nutrition had less propensity to rush into fast food and more easily chose a fruit than a child from a family where these kind of rules do not exist.

As a reminder, in the United States, 70% of adults are overweight, for a third of adults we even talk about obesity.
